The through line
The title has changed. The standard has not.
I've spent more than two decades moving toward larger responsibility—from field systems and support, to engineering, consulting, entrepreneurship, healthcare leadership, and enterprise IT.
The work is always both technical and human: make the risk clear, make the plan practical, and give people the confidence to execute it.
Current chapter · Kings III
Kings III supports approximately 400 employees and expects significant growth. I lead all of IT and cybersecurity, with six current team members, an open senior role, and two additional positions planned.
Created practical governance around IT and cybersecurity so ownership, standards, and decisions are clear.
Led the SOC 2 program through a successful Type I report and established a foundation for continued maturity.
Designed a tiered server architecture and led migrations of systems and privileged credentials.
Moved administrators to phishing-resistant authentication while strengthening access practices.
Helped expand conversational and agentic AI across the organization with an eye toward useful, governed adoption.
Calm under pressure
During the 2024 CrowdStrike outage at Sidney Health Center, Devon took command of the recovery and directed the team through the night. By the next shift, most staff were unaware a disruption had occurred.
“I give my highest recommendation without reservation and would gladly work with him again.”
Career journey
2010 onward in detail. The earlier years as foundation.
Manager of Information Technology
Joined as a contract Senior Systems & Network Administrator in January, became a full-time employee in March, and was promoted in June to lead IT and cybersecurity for a growing national life-safety company.
Director of IT & Cybersecurity · Transition Advisor
Built the cybersecurity program, chaired the HIPAA Committee, modernized critical infrastructure, and stayed through March 2026 to advise the leadership transition after moving to Texas.
Founder, Owner & Technical Lead
Founded a managed services business, merged with Gordon Tech Solutions, supported more than 1,000 users across Montana and North Dakota, and sold the business to a partner in December 2025.
IT Manager
Led infrastructure, cloud, networking, and security work for healthcare, dental, and professional-services clients throughout the Sacramento region.
Software Engineer · Senior Technical Support Engineer
Moved from complex customer support and global training into software engineering, building data-conversion tools for healthcare imaging and practice-management platforms.
Networks · Physical Security · Field Service
Built the hands-on foundation: structured cabling, alarms, fire systems, surveillance, endpoints, networks, and customer-facing technical service.
Founder’s perspective
QuickMSP began in 2018, later merged with Gordon Tech Solutions to become Proactive Tech Wiz, and grew into a healthcare-focused MSP supporting more than 1,000 users across two states. Devon led technology and delivery; his partner led sales and marketing. In December 2025, Devon sold his ownership to that partner.
Beyond the title
Devon is a husband and father of four. Each move has been deliberate: Los Angeles to Sacramento for professional growth; Sacramento to North Dakota to support family; and ultimately to North Texas to open the next chapter.
